What Is the Free Schema Markup Generator?
A free schema markup generator is a tool that builds JSON-LD structured data for a web page: a small block of code that tells search engines what the page is about in a format they can read precisely. Pick a type — Article, FAQPage, Product, LocalBusiness, Organization, Event, Recipe or BreadcrumbList — fill in the fields, and the tool produces a ready-to-paste script block for the page.
What Is It Used For?
Bloggers use it to mark up articles and FAQ sections so search engines understand the content. Shop owners use it for product pages with price and availability. Local businesses use it for their name, address and opening hours. Event organisers, recipe sites and anyone with breadcrumb navigation use it to describe those parts of a page clearly to search engines and AI parsers.
Key Benefits
- Eight schema types — Article, FAQPage, Product, LocalBusiness, Organization, Event, Recipe and BreadcrumbList in one tool.
- Live output — the markup updates as you type, so you see exactly what you will paste.
- Empty fields omitted — blank fields never appear in the output, so the code stays clean.
- Built-in JSON check — the tool confirms the output parses as valid JSON before you copy it.
- Copy or download — take the markup as a script block (.html) or as plain JSON (.json).
- Completely free and private — no signup, and everything runs in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded.
How to Use This Free Schema Markup Generator
- Choose a schema type from the dropdown — for example Article for a blog post or Product for a shop page.
- Fill in the fields for that type. Description, page URL and image URL are shared fields; the rest change with the type you picked.
- For FAQPage, type one question and answer per line using the format "Question | Answer". For BreadcrumbList, type one item per line as "Name | URL". For Recipe, list one ingredient per line.
- Watch the output box update live, and check the status line under it confirms the JSON is valid.
- Click Copy, or Download .json for the plain data or Download .html for the full script block, then paste it into your page's HTML, usually in the head section or just before the closing body tag.
Common Mistakes to Avoid With Schema Markup
- Marking up content visitors cannot see. Structured data must describe content actually visible on the page. Hidden or invented facts risk a structured-data policy violation and the markup being ignored.
- Expecting a guaranteed rich result. Valid markup only makes a page eligible — Google decides per query whether to show a rich result, and many valid pages never get one.
- Using FAQPage expecting the old dropdown. Google retired the FAQ rich result in May–June 2026. FAQPage is still valid schema.org vocabulary and still read by other parsers and AI engines, but it will not produce the old expandable dropdown in Google results.
- Leaving placeholder values in the output. Example text from any generator is not your data. Replace every field with your own facts before pasting, or leave the field empty so it is omitted.
- Forgetting the fields a type needs to be useful. A Product without a price, or a LocalBusiness without a name, produces markup that says almost nothing. Fill the fields that matter for the type you chose.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is schema markup? Schema markup is structured data added to a page that describes its content in a standard vocabulary from schema.org. Search engines and AI systems read it to understand whether a page is an article, a product, an event, or something else, instead of guessing from the visible text alone.
What is JSON-LD? JSON-LD is the most common way to write schema markup: a block of JSON inside a script tag on the page. It keeps the data separate from the visible content, which makes it easier to write and less likely to break the page layout than older formats.
Is this schema markup generator free? Yes, completely free — no signup, no limits, no account. You can generate as many blocks as you like.
Is anything I type uploaded anywhere? No. The tool runs entirely in your browser, so your page details never leave your device.
Does valid markup guarantee a rich result? No. Valid markup only makes a page eligible for rich results. Google decides per query whether to show one, and it also weighs the page's quality and relevance, so a valid block is no promise of a special display.
What happened to the FAQ rich result? Google retired the FAQ rich result in May–June 2026, and the HowTo rich result in 2023. FAQPage markup is still valid schema.org vocabulary and is still read by other parsers and AI engines, but it will not produce the old dropdown in Google search results.
Does this tool validate against Google? No, it cannot. Full validation needs a live URL in Google's Rich Results Test, which this browser tool cannot run. This tool checks that the output is well-formed JSON; for Google's own verdict, paste your published page URL into Google's Rich Results Test after publishing.
Where do I paste the markup? Paste the script block into your page's HTML, usually inside the head section or just before the closing body tag. On Blogger, that means the post's HTML view; on WordPress, a custom HTML block or your theme's header area.
Which types does it support? Eight types: Article, FAQPage, Product, LocalBusiness, Organization, Event, Recipe and BreadcrumbList. Each type shows only its own fields, so you are never asked for details that do not apply.
What happens to fields I leave empty? They are omitted from the output entirely. An empty field never produces an empty property in the markup, which keeps the code clean and avoids half-filled data.
Can I edit the output before using it? Yes. Copy it into any text editor and adjust it — for example, to add a property this tool does not ask for. Just keep the JSON valid, with matching brackets and quotes, or the block will break.
Can I generate markup for many pages at once? No, this tool builds one block at a time. Bulk or multi-page generation is not in this version, so repeat the steps once per page.
Does it support Microdata or RDFa? No, only JSON-LD. JSON-LD is the format Google recommends and the easiest to add without touching the visible page, so it is the only output here.
Final Thoughts
Schema markup is one of the cheapest SEO wins available: a few minutes per page, no design changes, and a clearer signal to every search engine and AI system that reads your site. Generate a block for your most important pages first, paste it in, and keep the facts honest and visible.
